Our Impact

New Mexico Sustainable Forestry Plan

The New Mexico Sustainable Forestry Business Plan gathered diverse stakeholders to co-create a strategy for restoring forest health and community vitality in the aftermath of the 350,000-acre Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak forest fire. Together, we developed a comprehensive approach in Colfax, Mora, and San Miguel Counties to scale up sustainable harvesting, transportation, and processing, supporting the well-being of forests, local logging and wood products businesses, and communities.

Nevada State Rail Plan

The 2021 Nevada State Rail Plan is unlike any other state transportation plan, as it advances rail-enabled, sustainable economic development for the state and the nation.

The plan culminates an 18-month immersion by OTNA and its for-profit affiliate, Strategic Rail Finance, into the constraints and opportunities of Nevada’s freight system.

Mississippi Rail-Enabled Economic Development

Rural, less populated communities across the continent are challenged to improve their local economies due to the prevailing development approach that hyper-focuses on attracting the largest new industries. As we applied in Mississippi, under contract with the Port of Rosedale, progress can be achieved through rail-enabled economic development that attracts and serves numerous smaller businesses throughout a region or corridor.
