Our Impact
New Mexico Sustainable Forestry Business Plan

The New Mexico Sustainable Forestry Business Plan was developed with input from diverse stakeholders in the aftermath of the 2022 Calf Canyon-Hermits Peak 350,000-acre forest fire. Together, we created a comprehensive strategy in Colfax, Mora, San Miguel, and Taos Counties to scale up sustainable harvesting, transportation, and processing, thereby supporting the well-being of forests, local logging and wood products businesses, and the communities they serve.
Nevada State Rail Plan
The 2021 Nevada State Rail Plan established a new model for transportation planning that is commercially relevant, actionable, and most importantly, fundable by the private sector. Unlike any other state transportation plan, it effectively advances rail-enabled economic development for multiple industries and communities.
The plan culminates an 18-month immersion by OTNA and its for-profit affiliate, Strategic Rail Finance, into the constraints and opportunities of Nevada’s freight system.

Rail-Enabled Economic Development in Mississippi

Rural, less populated communities face challenges in improving their local economies due to the prevailing development approach that hyperfocuses on attracting the largest new industries, primarily to high-population areas. By collaborating with the Port of Rosedale, we were able to advance rail-enabled economic development in Mississippi. This approach can be scaled up across the continent by serving new and existing smaller businesses throughout a region or corridor.
